With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing, it’s important to be careful when traveling. Some countries have banned international flights from landing within their borders for the safety of their citizens and to try to slow the spread of the virus. However, there are some destinations, many within the sunny Caribbean, that are allowing visitors. For your own safety, however, it’s important to choose only those destinations that are taking all possible precautions with the pandemic.

Before you travel, it’s a good idea to double check the health and safety requirements for your destination. Because the coronavirus pandemic can spread so quickly, countries may have to change their response between when you book your flight and when you arrive.

The Bahamas

The Bahamas requires that any visitors apply for a health visa before arrival. This visa requires that travelers take and pass a COVID-19 test within seven days of their arrival in the Bahamas. Quarantining may no longer be required, but visitors do need to take a rapid antigen test upon arrival. Anyone who is planning on staying in the Bahamas for more than five days will need to take the test again on the fourth day of their stay.

Hand sanitizer and disinfectants will be readily available wherever you stay and most hotels are limiting the number of people allowed in small spaces, such as elevators. Masks are required wherever social distancing isn’t possible. You’ll also need a mask at the airport and whenever you enter or exit a beach. There may also be a daily curfew.

Grenada

Grenada requires all travelers from high-risk locations such as the United States to submit to a health screening. You’ll need to fill out a health form and submit a passenger locator form for contact tracing. When you land in Grenada, you’ll need to take and pass a COVID-19 test. After that, you’ll have to quarantine for five days. On day four of the quarantine, visitors will be subjected to another COVID-19 test, which they will need to pass in order to be released from quarantine.

Even though a visit to Grenada would require you to quarantine following your Palm Springs jet charter to the country, you can be certain that anyone you come into contact with has undergone the same safety precautions as you.

Jamaica

Before your Fort Lauderdale jet charter arrives in Jamaica, you’ll need to fill out an online health questionnaire. When you arrive, temperature checks are required in order to leave the airport. You’ll also need to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within ten days of your arrival in Jamaica. As of November 2020, visitors are also required to purchase $40 health insurance for any medical expenses incurred while in Jamaica.

Visitors to Jamaica are limited to two areas of the Jamaican coast: the coast between Negril and Milk River and the coast between Negril and Port Antonio. The limited area open to visitors is to limit where the virus could potentially spread and to make contact tracing easier should someone start to show symptoms of the coronavirus. This also means that if you arrive in Jamaica on a private jet charter from Dallas, you’ll know that anyone around you has gone through the same health checks that you have.
